With the pillow blocks in place and the chain on (going from the motor to the rear) there seemed to be a potential clearance problem with the chain as it angles down from the top of the rear sprocket towards the motor and also angles up from the bottom of the rear sprocket towards the motor. I was afraid the chain might rub the pillow block, especially if I was to go to a smaller rear sprocket at some point. I put the left side pillow block back into the lathe and turned two circular cuts to increase the clearance with the chain. See the two step cuts to the left above.

Here you can see the pillow block back in position with the chain. You can see the two cuts on the side of the pillow block near the chain.

Here is a view with the chain mocked up. I still have to figure out how far in front of the rear axle the motor will be located, but this will probably be close. I need to make an idler sprocket to keep the chain in tension. That will come later.
